Extrusion press

Extrusion presses are used to produce aluminium profiles. In the extrusion process, a heated aluminium billet is pressed through a die with high force, creating a profile with a defined cross-sectional geometry.

FISS Machines offers used extrusion presses and complete extrusion lines for the aluminium profile industry. Depending on the system, billet heating, induction furnace, container, die handling, run-out table, cooling, puller, stretcher, saw, stacking and further peripheral equipment may already be part of the machine solution.

An extrusion line is more than the press

In practice, an aluminium extrusion line consists of several coordinated stations. Only the interaction of billet heating, press, die, run-out technology, cooling, pulling, sawing and handling determines the real production performance.

Billet Heat Aluminium billets are brought to extrusion temperature in a billet furnace or induction furnace.
Press Extrude The billet is loaded into the container and pressed through the die with high force.
Profile Cool The emerging profile is guided, cooled and stabilised on the run-out table.
Straightness Stretch Pullers and stretchers support profile guidance, length control and straightness.
Finish Saw & stack Profiles are cut to length, transported, stacked and prepared for downstream processes.

Which used extrusion press fits your profile programme?

The right extrusion press depends on press force, billet diameter, alloy, profile cross-section, wall thickness, length, output and degree of automation. Simple standard profiles have different requirements than complex technical aluminium profiles.

Aluminium extrusion presses

Used aluminium extrusion presses are used for construction profiles, technical profiles, industrial profiles, frame profiles and customer-specific profile geometries.

Complete extrusion lines

A complete line can include billet furnace, induction heating, press, run-out table, cooling, puller, stretcher, saw and stacking equipment.

Modernisation and automation

Depending on the condition, modernising the control system, hydraulics, safety technology, run-out automation or handling can be economically useful.

Press force, container and die working together

Press force must match the alloy, billet diameter and profile geometry. At the same time, container, die, ram, hydraulic system, billet heating and temperature control influence profile quality and the economic efficiency of the line.

When buying a used extrusion press, the entire process chain should therefore be assessed. A powerful press alone is not enough if run-out technology, puller, saw, cooling or control system do not match the planned production programme.

What to check when buying a used extrusion press

When buying a used extrusion press, it should be checked whether the press, billet heating, run-out technology, automation and control system match the planned profile programme. Press force, billet diameter, hydraulic condition and the availability of relevant peripherals are particularly important.

Press force, billet diameter, billet length and container size
Condition of main hydraulics, cylinders, guides and press frame
Billet furnace, induction heating, billet loader and temperature control
Die handling, tool mounting, ram and container condition
Run-out table, cooling, puller, stretcher, saw and stacking
Control system, visualisation, documentation and spare parts availability
Safety technology, energy demand, foundation and space requirements
Dismantling, transport, reassembly, refurbishment and recommissioning

Used extrusion presses from established manufacturers

FISS Machines trades used extrusion presses and extrusion lines from established manufacturers. Depending on availability, systems from UBE, Lindemann, Cometal Engineering, Danieli Breda, Schloemann, Sutton, Hydraulik Duisburg and other manufacturers may be considered.

Refurbishment, modernisation and project handling

Used extrusion presses can be technically inspected, refurbished or modernised depending on condition and budget. Possible measures include inspection of hydraulics, control system, press frame, cylinders, run-out automation, safety technology and peripheral equipment.

FISS Machines supports the selection, evaluation, dismantling, logistics, refurbishment and recommissioning of used extrusion lines. If no suitable extrusion press is currently listed online, FISS can search its international network and check suitable solutions.

Buy or sell used extrusion presses

FISS Machines supports industrial companies worldwide in buying and selling used extrusion presses and complete extrusion lines. In addition to brokerage and international marketing, direct purchase by FISS may also be an option depending on the project.
